While the COVID-19 pandemic might be behind us, legislators have been busy making up for lost time ushering in new employment laws to keep us all on our toes. In New Jersey, it's been particularly eventful in 2023 and we are only halfway through the year. On May 18, 2023, Lisa Fried-Grodin, Owner and Employment Law Attorney with Fried-Grodin Employment Law, led an interactive, information-packed discussion about many of these new laws and procedures with members of the Sussex Warren Human Resource Management Association. She covered changes to the NJ unemployment process, whether nondisparagement clauses and noncompete clauses in employment and settlement agreements can still be used and enforced, who is protected and affected by New Jersey's new Temporary Workers Bill of Rights, and the new severance and notice obligations now required for large employers implementing mass layoffs of NJ employees and those who live elsewhere but report to a NJ manager.
